Frequently asked Questions

Real answers for gym families

New to The Zone? Wondering how it all works? You are in the right place. If you do not see your question here, call us at (812) 434-0075 or ask at the front desk. We love questions.

GETTING STARTED

Q: How young can my child start? Little ones can start Parent Tot as soon as they are walking. Pre-K Gymnastics is for ages 3 to 5. Kids ages 5 and up start with Intro to Gymnastics.

Q: How do I know which class to choose? Start with age. Walking through age 2: Parent Tot. Ages 3 to 5: Pre-K Gymnastics. Ages 5 and up: Intro to Gymnastics, the starting class for all new members. From there, kids move into Girls or Boys Gymnastics, Tumbling, or Ninja. Not sure? Ask us. We will help you find the right fit.

Q: What is the difference between gymnastics and tumbling? Girls gymnastics classes teach skills on all four events: vault, bars, beam, and floor. Gymnasts build strength, flexibility, and coordination as they move up through Girls 1 to Girls 4. Tumbling classes focus on floor skills, and use trampolines to build air awareness, confidence, and technique. We offer three tumbling levels, beginner through advanced. Tumbling is a great fit for kids who want to learn to flip or sharpen their skills for dance or other sports.

Q: Can my child start at any point in the month? Yes! Start any time. If you join after the first of the month, tuition is prorated, so you only pay for the days your child is enrolled that month. Regular monthly tuition starts the next month.

Q: What does my child wear? Comfortable athletic clothes they can move in. A leotard works great. Shorts with a fitted shirt or tank top work too. Hair goes up and out of the face. No dangling jewelry.

Q: My child is shy or nervous. Will they be okay? Absolutely. Feeling nervous at first is normal. Our coaches keep class fun and welcoming, and every child warms up at their own pace. Most kids settle in fast and gain confidence with every class.

Q: What if my child cries during their first class? It happens, and it is okay. Our coaches are patient and give kids time to adjust with no pressure. Most children feel at home after a class or two, and then they cannot wait to come back.

OUR PROGRAMS

Q: What do you offer besides gymnastics? Tumbling, Ninja, and Dryland Diving. Every program has levels, so each athlete gets the right challenge as they learn and grow. Whether your child is brand new or ready to level up, there is a fit here.

Q: What is Ninja? Ninja is a fun, high-energy class built on obstacle courses, climbing, jumping, swinging, and balance. It builds strength, coordination, confidence, and problem solving. Our gym has a ninja course, a warped wall, ropes, trampolines, and foam pits, so there is plenty of room to grow.

Q: Does my child have to compete? Not at all. Our recreational classes are for learning, fun, and building skills with zero pressure to compete. If your child ever wants to compete, we have a clear path to help them get there at a pace that is right for them.

Q: How often should my child attend to see progress? Come to class as scheduled. Life happens, and an occasional missed class or vacation is fine. Steady attendance is the best way for your child to build skills and keep progress rolling.

AT THE GYM

Q: Can parents stay and watch? Yes! Our viewing area has bleacher and table seating along both sides of the front gym, plus parent work stations and outlets. For classes in the back gym, live camera monitors in the viewing area let you follow along. The Pre-K room has its own seating, so families with little ones can watch up close.

Q: Can my other kids come to the gym? Siblings are welcome to stay with family in the viewing areas. For safety, kids who are not enrolled in a class cannot be on the gym floor. If a sibling wants in on the fun, we will happily help find a class that fits them.

Q: How do I know when the gym is closed? We post all weather and holiday closures on our website and social media, and we email enrolled families when possible. Holiday closure dates are posted in advance at the gym too.

Q: Where is Lost and Found? On the white table under the Pro Shop sign. Check it often! Unclaimed items are donated to Goodwill every other month. We post a reminder sign up front before each donation so you have time to grab missing items.

Q: What behavior do you expect from athletes and parents? A great gym is a team effort between athletes, families, and coaches. Athletes come ready to learn, listen to their coaches, and treat teammates and staff with kindness and respect. We ask parents and caregivers to support their athletes and keep communication with our staff open. The Zone has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Every athlete deserves to feel safe and included, always. Our goal is to grow great gymnasts and great people.

Q: Is there a registration fee? Yes, a $40 annual family registration fee. It covers the whole family for the year. It does not apply to birthday parties or camps.

Q: When is tuition due? Tuition is billed on the 1st of each month to the card on file. You can make a payment before the 1st if you prefer.

Q: What payment methods do you accept? All major credit and debit cards. Every family keeps a valid card on file, stored securely and charged on our billing date. Prefer cash? Just pay before the scheduled billing date. Questions about billing? We are happy to help.

ABOUT THE ZONE

Q: What makes The Zone different? Safety and well-being come first here, every day. We build a positive, supportive gym where every athlete is encouraged, respected, and challenged at the right level. And our mission goes past athletics. We are not just building great athletes. We are helping build great people. Kids learn respect, responsibility, perseverance, kindness, and teamwork here, and those skills go home with them. We keep communication with families open, because raising a confident kid is a team sport too.

Q: How do you help children build confidence? Confidence grows from encouragement and small wins. Our coaches challenge each child at their own pace, celebrate progress big and small, and teach kids that growth takes time. Mistakes are part of learning here, not something to fear. Our goal is for every child to leave practice proud of their effort and excited to come back.
